It is with great appreciation that the Dechen Chöling Council announces the pending retirement of the Centre’s Director, Ms. Konstanze Brockstedt. We are also excited to announce a call for candidates to a new Transition Director appointment.
Ms. Konstanze Brockstedt will retire from her position as Executive Director, on Shambhala Day 2021. Ms. Brockstedt has courageously led the Dechen Chöling staff, and welcomed participants to the land for the past seven years. Under her leadership, Dechen Chöling has been embellished with a series of major improvements to its facilities. She has also steered it through exceptionally challenging times these past two years. We extend our gratitude and appreciation to her for executing her role with tremendous bravery, always grounded in the mind of practice.
Dechen Chöling – the Land of Great Bliss – has served the European sangha and the wider Shambhala community for a quarter of a century, providing a seat for the dralas of Shambhala to gather. It has been a place to follow the Shambhala path, and receive profound teachings and blessings of the Sakyong lineage. It has hosted great teachers of the Vajrayana, and nourished the sangha through family camps, Kyudo and Dharma arts, Dorje Kasung activity, Shambhala Sun camps and deep retreats. In many ways, Dechen Chöling is the heart home of Shambhala in Europe.
To assure the continuity of this legacy, Dechen Chöling is beginning a period of transition and renewal. We are seeking a Transition Director to fearlessly steward the Centre during this process. The mission will be to guide and execute a transition to sustainability as the pandemic evolves, while laying the ground for Dechen Chöling’s future.
Applicants should have experience in the following areas:
- Significant experience as Shambhala practitioners and a commitment to the Shambhala lineage
- Experience in building teams and successfully leading collaborative work efforts
- Financial and legal management experience
If you feel inspired to lead Dechen Chöling through this time of transition, a job description is available here:
