As COVID-19 (aka coronavirus) continues to spread across the world, Shambhala is committed to practicing measures of good health, sanitation and preventing further spread of the virus.
We recognise that, as a spiritual community and a place that hosts many guests, Dechen Chöling has a responsibility to protect the wellbeing, safety, and happiness of our visiting guests, volunteers, and residential community. We remain open to guests and visitors alike.
We are taking care to provide guests with all the necessary information to keep themselves and others healthy. There are a number of people involved in ensuring the health and wellbeing of all visitors and staff can be taken care of. We are also well prepared to manage the situation should we encounter any cases of coronavirus.
We encourage all members and program participants to follow best practices which include:
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- If you are feeling ill, have recently visited a location with a known outbreak, or have been in contact with someone who may have been exposed, we ask that you please refrain attending group gatherings and contact your healthcare provided.
If you have symptoms, or have been in contact with Coronavirus, please, rather than risk infecting others, we request that contact us for further advice before you travel to Dechen Chöling.
