Exploring the Tibetan Book of the Dead
We don’t remember our birth very well, and we’re uncertain of our time of death. But we certainly feel caught in between! Our life is a constant river of in between moments—in between birth and death, sleep and awake, family and work, hopes and fears.
Bardo – the in between state – is a key transmission on how to live and let go – moment by moment. In this vajrayana practice intensive, we will explore The Tibetan Book of the Dead to get to the heart of this all-pervasive bardo and its relevance to our life, meditation, and death.
Everyone will have time to practice their main vajrayana practice separately as we have done in the past.
This retreat counts towards group practice requirements.
Prerequiste
This retreat is open to all Shambhala vajrayana students who have attended a Vajradhatu Vajrayana Seminary or a Sacred World Assembly. This is a wonderful opportunity for the entire vajra sangha to gather and be of one mind, one heart.
Practical
Arrival day (Sunday April 9):Orientation talk at 8 pm. You’re invited to come from 4 pm in order to register and settle in your room. Dinner is served at 6.45 pm.
End of program (Sunday April 16): Closing circle and Banquet in the evening.
Departure day (Monday April 17): You may leave anytime (no program that day). You’re welcome to stay for lunch.
This program is taught in English. Translation into French or other languages are available at no extra costs. Please give us notice of your request as early as possible, so that we can provide translation service.
Teacher
Ashe Acharya John Rockwell has been a student of the Shambhala and Buddhist path for over 40 years and an acharya for over 20 years. His main interests as a teacher are to deepen everyday awareness through intensive meditation retreats, train people in the gentle body/mind awareness of Daoist qigong, and get everyone outside to explore their senses and the magic of the natural world. He lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia with his wife, Rhiannon Wells, and travels internationally to teach.
